I created this sketch for a dear friend. The butterfly and the cocoon symbolize change and the metamorphosis one goes through in a lifetime. A caterpillar struggles for survival, until a time when it is ready to change. It only focuses on what will happen inside that cocoon. When it finally emerges, pulling its big wet wings from that tiny capsule, the butterfly spreads them and prepares for the first flight of life. Humans are much the same. We all struggle to become our true and authentic selves. Sometimes it takes a lifetime of trying new things, often failing inside our cocoons, but when it finally happens, we spread our wings and take flight, rising higher than we ever believed that we could.
I love photography and editing the raw photo into something else. The idea of taking a picture of something that I find beautiful and creating art with it. It is inspiring, sometimes I write the thoughts invoked by the image and sometimes the photo speaks for itself.
