Short Stories

Short Stories by Heather Ann Shannon

My muse takes me, I shall follow.

The following pieces are short stories that I wrote and entered into a writing contest through The Write Practice in 2017, now published in the archives of Short Fiction Break. With the help of this community of writers, I’ve grown exponentially as an author. My success with this group and the support they provide allows me to find the courage to publish my story content. I have since reimagined the end of Dark Moon and cleaned up Fire at Will, within the next few weeks I will post them here for you to read. Of course, you will always have the option of reading the originals.

Dark Moon

Inspired by a dark family history I discovered in an Akashik Reading, Dark Moon is about one of my past lives where I lived as a priestess. As a first attempt at writing short stories, I felt I did quite well.

Ancient magic reigns in the village until the foreigners come.

Fire At Will

Fire At Will was inspired by one of the prompts given in the Contest Rules. For me, writing a story under 1000 words is quite a challenge.

Set in the depths of space. Attack is imminent, is escape possible?
